Shaping of Residential Grade ADSL2+ and ADSL Services

Shaping operates on a 30 day rolling cycle. Each day at approximately 4:00am AEST, our systems calculate the previous 30 day data total. If this total exceeds the Shaping Limit for the plan, the connections speed is reduced to the Shaping Speed. Shaping will continue until the total for the previous 30 days falls below the Shaping Limit.

Shaping on a 30 day rolling cycle reduces spikes of usage on the network. This results in improved network performance for all customers. The 30 day cycle creates a more consistent experience for all users, by producing a faster turnaround.

Shaping affects the following plans:

• ADSL2+ - Basic and Bundled plans where the Capped or Shaped Option has been selected. Shaped Option: Shaping Limit and Shaping Speed are set by the customer.
  Capped Option: Shaping Limit is equivalent to Included Data for the plan selected and Shaping Speed is 64 Kb/s.

• ADSL - Basic plans where the Capped Option has been selected. Shaping Limit is equivalent to Included Data for the plan selected and Shaping Speed is 56 Kb/s.

• ADSL - Flat Rate Plans 512 / 128 Kb & 1.5 Mb / 256 Kb. Shaping Limit is equivalent to the Included Data for the plan selected and Shaping Speed is 56 Kb/s.
